Transvulcania Naviera Armas 2017 filled this morning the 600 offered places for the Half Marathon. The Organization of the race has announced the closure of the places for this distance. It has also been announced that there are only 30 remaining numbers for the Vertical Kilometer to reach a historic full in this sporting event.
The next Friday the official list of athletes of this modality will be published on the website of the competition (www.transvulcania.info). Likewise, the possibility to contact the technical secretariat of the race will be enabled to be part of the waiting list for the Half Marathon (via the email address email@example.com or by calling 922417323).
The Sports and Youth Counsellor of the La Palma Island Council, Ascensión Rodríguez, showed her satisfaction “due to the great welcome of this ninth edition, in which we are breaking all the records in the history of the event.”
In the same way, Rodríguez encouraged the fans of this sport to register for one of the few available places of the Vertical Kilometer, which will be included in the first World Circuit that the International Skyrunning Federation has created for this distance.
The Half Marathon will start from Faro de Fuencaliente the next May 13th at 7:30 am, to cross through emblematic places of the island like Área Recreativa Refugio del Pilar, the “Ruta de Los Volcanes”, the heart of Los Canarios or Los Deseadas. The route of 24,28 kilometres has an elevation gain of 2.097 metres and an elevation loss of 689 metres.
In the last edition, the winner of the male category in this distance was Ondrej Fejfar, with a time of 2 hours, 18 minutes and 30 seconds. In the female category, the victory was for Lea Bäuscher, with a time of 2 hours, 59 minutes and 29 seconds.
