The Transvulcania 2019 opens its registration period

By Press 0

The race will be, for the first time, a SuperSky Race and shall allocate four-times its scoring and double the prizes

The Transvulcania 2019 is on the way. After the success of participation and the international dissemination obtained at the tenth edition, the organization is already working at the eleventh edition of the race. The registration period of the four modalities, the Ultramarathon, Marathon, Half Marathon and Vertical Kilometre is open.

The inscriptions can be made through the website of the race www.transvulcania.com at an eleventh edition which already has defined its road map. The Transvulcania 2019 will start with the Vertical Kilometre, which will be held on Thursday the 9th of May. The Vertical Kilometre maintains its place at the Vertical Kilometre World Circuit, which means that the best runners in the world will certainly be interested in this race.

On Saturday the 11th of May of 2019, we will have the chance to enjoy again the main race of the event, the Ultramarathon, which will be, for the first time, included in the SuperSky Race within the Migu Run Skyrunner World Series, quadrupling the scoring of the race and doubling the cash prizes. The Marathon and the Half Marathon will also be on Saturday the 11th of May. It should be noted that the cost of registration for the four different modalities will be the same as this year’s cost.

“We open the registration period for the eleventh edition of the Transvulcania, with the illusion of improving every year and becoming even a better race than it already is. It is a pleasure and a challenge for us to be a SuperSky Race. This means that the best runners in the world will have our race in focus and, probably, we will have the pleasure to see them competing at our race next year”, said Ascensión Rodríguez, the sports counsellor of La Palma.

Criteria for participation

The main requirements for participating at the Ultramarathon is that the runner should have completed a mountain race of at least 40 kilometres in a period of 18 months before the Transvulcania is held.

For the Marathon (45 km), the runner should have completed a mountain race of at least 20 km in a period of 18 months before the Transvulcania is held.

For the rest of modalities (Half Marahon, Vertical Kilometre and Transvulcania Kids-Junior) these requirements are not necessary, but the organization recommends the runners to have participated at a similar race before competing at the Transvulcania.
