The least demanding event at Transvulcania 2016 Naviera Armas is the Hikers Meeting, to be held on Friday the 7th of May. This gathering has been celebrated without interruption since 2008 on La Palma to enhance the appreciation of the island’s natural heritage through its paths.

In 2016, the itinerary and features of the Meeting has been agreed with six local hiking clubs. The route starts at Ermita del Pino de la Virgen (El Paso) and ends at Museo Arqueológico Benahoarita (the archaeological museum), in Los Llanos de Aridane. It will use the traditional paths to visit El Barrial, San Martín de Porres, Montaña de la Hiedra, the rock carvings of El Verde, Hermosilla and El Retamar. Once in Los Llanos de Aridane, the group will descend Calle Convento and head straight into the Museo Arqueológico.

The itinerary length is 12 kilometers, with a descent of barely 700 metres, around the scenic slopes of Bejenao and some other sites of great etnographic interest.

Once finished, the organizers will offer free food and drinks in an aid station set next to the Museo Arqueológico with energy drinks, water, fruit, nuts, sandwiches, etc.

*Very important: All registered entrants must eventually visit Feria del Corredor (the Runners’ Trade Fair) set in Juan Pablo II square at Los Llanos de Aridane, to collect their official t-shirts and bus vouchers.

Feria del Corredor timetable:

Monday 4th to Friday 6th, from 10.00 AM to 9.00 PM.

The registration for this event is completely free of charge.
