The runner from Cape Verde and the Spanish runner were the best athletes at the finish line at the puerto de Tazacorte
The Marathon H10 Hotels of the tenth edition of the Transvulcania Naviera Armas wrote the name of Danilson Pereira and María Zorroza as the winners of this very special edition. The runner from Cape Verde won again the race after the triumph of Luis Alberto Hernando in last year’s edition. The Spanish María Zorroza won the women’s category.
Danilson Pereira was the first runner to cross the finish line, but he did it with several difficulties, as his countryman Wilson Cardoso fought until the end for the triumph. As Pereira mentioned before the race, “Wilson is in very good shape, it is going to be very difficult to beat him”. And it was right.
The Cape Verde runners showed from the beginning that both of them were going to fight for the triumph at this year’s edition. The Spanish runners showed that they also have the level for competing against the best runners, but the pace of both Cape Verde runners was just too high. The only runner who followed their rhythm was the Argentine Juan Esteban de las Peñas. But it was not enough. At the end, Pereira won the race with a time of 4.05.33, only 34 seconds faster than Cardoso, who was second with a time of 4.06.07. De las Peñas ended up third with a time of 4.06.23 and completed the podium of the Marathon H10 Hotels.
At the women’s category, María Zorroza (4.51.22) maintained a very good pace during the whole race for becoming the new winner of the Marathon H10 Hotels. Montse Martínez finished second (4.53.22), and Paloma Lobera was third with a time of 5.15.34.
