Transvulcania 2017, through the public company Sodepal, has reached an agreement with Binter by which the airline company will be one more year the sponsor of the Vertical Kilometer, an event that will take place the next May 11th. In the same way, 2.000 additional places will be set up to cover the trips of runners, relatives and companions.
The act took place in the La Palma Airport and was attended by the Sports Counsellor of the La Palma Island Council, Ascensión Rodríguez, and the Head of Institutional Relations and Communication of Binter, Noelia Curbelo.
Rodríguez remembered that Binter “has seen Transvulcania growing since its first edition and, one more time, we have to express our gratitude for their trust in all the organizers of the race and on this modality, which has their name since 2008.”
Curbelo highlighted “the importance that the deep connection with La Palma and with this international competition have for Binter, reaching other agreements throughout the year with different sporting, cultural and social actions that the island helds.”
“Binter has done a great effort, planning a huge human and technical presence that mean special flights to cover the big demand that this race generates. An increase of 41% in the flights from Gran Canaria and of 22% from Tenerife is assured, including return flights,” added Noelia Curbelo.
Finally, the Binter representative explained that this measures will guarantee the appropriate transportation of all those athletes registered in Transvulcania, not only from other Canarian islands, but from other international destinations that the company operates, like Cape Verde, among others.
The Kilómetro Vertical Transvulcania Binter will have an added value in 2017, after being included in the first Wolrd Circuit of the distance, promoted by the International Skyrunning Federation (ISF). Besides, it will feature international stars like Luis Alberto Hernando, Cristel Dewalle, Stian Angermund-Vik or Yuri Yoshisumi.
